Biography
Born in Bristol, England, and brought up in southeast London, smooth reggae crooner Roger Robin stepped into the music industry while still a child of 11. As a preteen he joined London's Saxon sound system, performing with established acts such as Maxi Priest, Tippa Irie, and Papa Levi. Through Saxon he cut his breakthrough single "More Love" in 1990 and featured on multiple installments of the label's Best of Saxon series, which appeared at intervals across the decade. In 1992 he encountered producer and songwriter Rowen Johnson from the Love Injection production team and label. The following year Love Injection issued his first album, Undiluted, a cool, roots-flavored set that earned the British Reggae Industry's Best British Reggae Album award. Reflections came next in 1995, while his third project, Robin, arrived in 2001. By that point he had begun journeying to Jamaica, Africa, and the U.S. in an effort to expand his British success internationally. On a 2005 visit to America, Robin connected with producer Lloyd Campbell, who consented to oversee the singer's fourth full-length, Take It Slow. Released in 2006 on the internationally known and respected reggae label VP, the album marked another step in his career.
