Biography
Formed as a collective spanning Southern rock, blues, R&B, and soul, the Royal Southern Brotherhood draws on an ensemble whose members carry distinguished musical lineages. Lead vocals are delivered by Cyril Neville, long associated with the Meters and the Neville Brothers. On guitar is Devon Allman, son of Gregg Allman from the legendary Allman Brothers Band. Fellow guitarist Mike Zito contributes a track record of critical recognition in blues guitar circles, while bassist Charlie Wooton previously performed with Zydefunk and drummer Yonrico Scott has backed Derek Trucks along with other high-profile acts. Those backgrounds constitute an enviable foundation for the group’s launch. Ruf Records released the Royal Southern Brotherhood’s self-titled debut album in 2012.
