Ryan Paris emerged as one of the more conspicuous figures in that wave, an act who was Italian in every practical sense. His initial goal had been to establish himself as a writer of poetry, yet he instead secured short-lived but vivid success performing as a vocalist of romantic dance tracks. Drawing creative spark from the classic Fellini film La Dolce Vita, the lovestruck titular track ranked among 1983’s most prominent European hits, moving more than five million copies while reaching Top 5 positions in nearly every nation on the continent. Later singles, by contrast, encountered steadily shrinking interest and ultimately none at all, fixing Ryan Paris in public memory as a one-hit wonder.
