Biography
Ryan Pollie, a singer and songwriter residing in Los Angeles, first attracted notice in 2014 via his lo-fi bedroom indie pop endeavor Los Angeles Police Department. After overcoming cancer, he delivered his third album—the initial one issued under his own name—with the self-titled Ryan Pollie appearing in 2019.
Originally from Philadelphia, Pollie trained in music at Bates College in Maine and later relocated to Los Angeles. His debut recording under the Los Angeles Police Department name arrived in 2014. The self-released collection of gently ornate pop, which masked his affection for '60s folk and psychedelia, secured him a contract with Anti-. Two years afterward he released the second album, again titled Los Angeles Police Department, now favoring a mildly refined production. Testicular cancer was diagnosed during the making of his third album. Chemotherapy followed in summer 2018, yet he completed the project. After recovery, Ryan Pollie reached stores in May 2019.
