British alt-rock outfit Scars on 45 craft yearning, melodic pop that fuses Oasis’s expansive guitar-driven sound with the tuneful, country-tinged style of Fleetwood Mac. The ensemble came together in Bradford, Yorkshire, near 2007, initially operating as a duo once ex-football teammates singer/songwriter Danny Bemrose and bassist Stuart Nichols began collaborating on material. Over time the lineup grew to encompass keyboardist David Nowakowski, vocalist Aimee Driver, and drummer Chris Durling. Although the act built a regional audience, wider industry notice arrived only after “Beauty’s Running Wild” featured in a 2009 installment of the CBS series CSI: New York. Capitalizing on that exposure and a Chop Shop label contract, Scars on 45 issued the EPs Give Me Something and Heart on Fire in 2011, with the title track of the latter appearing on the Grey’s Anatomy, Vol. 4 soundtrack. The following year the band delivered its self-titled debut album, anchored by the single “Heart on Fire.” Scars on 45 reemerged in 2014 with the sophomore LP Safety in Numbers, highlighted by the single “Crazy for You.”
