Biography
Formed in 1997 in the northern Swedish city of Umeå, the alternative rock outfit the Perishers features Ola Klüft on vocals and guitar, Martin Gustafson handling keyboards and backing vocals, Pehr Åström on bass, and Thomas Hedlund behind the drums. The group spent its early years performing locally before securing a contract in 2001 with the regional imprint North of No South. Its debut album, From Nothing to One, arrived the following year and was supported by shows in selected Scandinavian markets as well as Taiwan. Let There Be Morning, the band’s second release and its first to reach North American listeners through Nettwerk, surfaced in spring 2005, prompting further dates alongside Aqualung, Tracy Bonham, and Sarah McLachlan. Victorious followed two years later.
