Biography
Emerging from Montreal, Shades of Culture belong to an expanding but still obscure group of Canadian hip-hop artists and are viewed as trailblazers within the local scene by numerous observers. Hailing from Notre-Dame-de-Grâce, the three members—DJ Shade, Revolution, and ?—dedicated consistent effort across the 1980s and 1990s toward refining their strong abilities in rap. Their efforts culminated in the release of Mindstate, a full-length CD issued through 2112 Records. Shades of Culture established Windmill Records as an independent imprint during the initial months of 1999.
