Biography
Shiloh, a Canadian singer and songwriter rooted in the pop-punk style, entered the charts with her first Top Ten album, Picture Imperfect, in 2009. Born Shiloh Hoganson on April 25, 1993, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, she divided her childhood between Saskatchewan and Alberta. Early on she drew inspiration from pop icons including Michael Jackson, taking up songwriting and vocal performance while entering multiple competitions. After securing a major-label deal with Universal Music, she issued her debut single at age 15, the ska-inflected “Operator (A Girl Like Me),” in November 2008; the track reached the Top 30 on the Canadian singles chart. The following summer she unveiled her first full-length release, Picture Imperfect (2009), co-writing the bulk of its material. That album also landed in Canada’s Top Ten and yielded the subsequent singles “Goodbye, You Suck,” “Alright,” and “I Remember.” A frequent presence on music television, Shiloh received two MuchMusic Video Award nominations in 2009, while her songs appeared on programs such as Gossip Girl and in films including What Happens in Vegas (2008).
