Chris Davids of Maribou State created Shire T, earlier known as Shire Tea, as a solo outlet that first aimed to supply club-focused tracks for the group’s live performances, though the venture quickly developed into a standalone pursuit. Drawing from the traditions of British dance music, Davids delivered the project’s debut album, 2021’s Tomorrow’s People.

After establishing a wide audience as half of the dance duo Maribou State, producer Chris Davids first adopted the Shire T name to supply transitional and more robust dancefloor cuts for the pair’s DJ sets. Although the project began in 2017, its initial official releases arrived in 2020 with “Gentlemen’s Whistle Club” and “Hackney Birdwatch,” both featured on fabric presents: Maribou State, the duo’s Fabric collaboration. By 2020, however, Davids had shifted toward more extensive solo output under the Shire T alias, issuing the garage-infused single “Blue Kiss” that same year. Later in 2021 came Tomorrow’s People, the project’s first full-length release, which reflected Davids’ deep engagement with British dance music traditions.
