Siinai

Established in 2007 as Joensuu 1685 by Finnish brothers Markus and Mikko Joensuu, the instrumental space rock and shoegaze outfit that later became Siinai began with pronounced Krautrock leanings. Risto Joensuu, bearing no family connection, completed the initial trio, which delivered a self-titled studio album in 2008 and then formally adopted the Siinai name in 2010. The resulting quartet unveiled its first full-length effort, Olympic Games, in 2011. That same year the group linked up with Wolf Parade mastermind Spencer Krug for his newest Moonface undertaking, producing Heartbreaking Bravery, issued in April 2012 on Jagjaguwar. Supermarket arrived as the band’s sophomore long-player in 2014, and in 2016 the musicians returned to the studio alongside Krug to record My Best Human Face, their second Moonface collaboration.
