Norwegian hard rock outfit Skambankt launched their recording career with a self-titled debut in 2004 and achieved Top Ten placement on the domestic albums chart several years afterward. A key factor behind the group’s rising profile stems from frontman Terje Winterstø Røthing’s concurrent role in Kaizers Orchestra, the chart-topping Norwegian alternative rock act where he performs guitar under the pseudonym Killmaster Kaizer. Formed in Klepp, Norway, in 1994, the band’s lineup consists of Ted Winters on vocals and guitar (born Terje Winterstø Røthing), Hanz Panzer on guitar (born Hans Egil Løe), Don Fist on bass (born Tollak Friestad), and Bones Wolsman on drums (born Børge Henriksen). Their first commercial release, the album Skambankt, appeared in Norway via Tuba Records and in Denmark via Kick Music, generating the promotional singles “Me Sa Nei!” and “KKK!,” each accompanied by a music video. Those clips later surfaced on the six-track EP Skamania (2005), which otherwise contained chiefly new recordings. The follow-up full-length Eliksir (2007) marked a commercial breakthrough by entering the Top Ten of the Norwegian albums chart and featured the singles “Tyster,” “Dynasti,” and “Stormkast.” Their third album, Hardt Regn (2009), climbed even higher to a Top Five peak and yielded the singles “Malin” and “O Dessverre.”
