Biography
Sonos, an a cappella ensemble, blends conventional choral techniques with an alternative indie sensibility, yielding an innovative and vibrant fusion that updates the style for modern times. Having originated within the college a cappella scene of southern California, this collective comprises vocalists Chris Harrison, Jessica Freedman, Katharine Anne Hoye, Rachel Bearer, Ben McLain, and Paul Peglar, who gained recognition in L.A. through clever, creative, and daring a cappella renditions of tracks from artists including Rufus Wainwright, Fleet Foxes, Imogen Heap, Lewis Taylor, Magnet, Björk, among others, in addition to an intriguing trip-hop vocal rendition of the Jackson 5 hit "I Want You Back," issued by Verve Records as their debut single during 2009. The complete album SonoSings came out subsequently that same year.
