Biography
Spotlight Kid came together in Nottingham, England during 2006, drawing from the shoegaze and psychedelic rock traditions that defined much of the preceding decade. Dual vocalists Katty Heath and Rob McCleary joined guitarist Chris Moore, bassist Matt Holt, drummer Chris Davis, and multi-instrumentalist Karl Skivington to form the initial roster. The group rapidly shaped its signature hazy, guitar-driven approach and committed it to tape on the debut album Departure. A four-song EP titled Crystal Dreams arrived in 2009, setting the stage for the 2011 release of second album Disaster Tourist. That record first appeared in the U.K. before securing wider distribution the following year. The band sustained its evolution while maintaining an active live presence, among other highlights appearing at the 2011 Glastonbury Festival. Their third full-length, Ten Thousand Hours, emerged in 2014.
