Biography
Stacy Barthe, an R&B performer originally from Long Island, New York, started building her presence in music during 2008 by working as a songwriter and providing backing vocals after inking a deal with Universal Music Publishing Group. That same year saw her contributing to the track "Blur" on Britney Spears' Circus album. Her songwriting efforts soon appeared regularly in releases by major acts, among them Cheryl Cole on "Heaven," Katy Perry's "Hummingbird Heartbeat," Rihanna's seventh-position chart success "Cheers [Drink to That]," Kelis' "22nd Century," Estelle's "Speak Ya Mind," a pair of songs for Alicia Keys' Girl on Fire, and T.I.'s "Sorry." On her own, Barthe put out several self-released works such as the 2010 effort Sincerely Yours, Stacy Barthe that included contributions from Frank Ocean and Luke James, followed by In the Inbetween in 2012 and P.S. I Love You in 2013. She joined the historic Motown roster after issuing Sincerely Yours in 2014, which led to the 2015 album BEcoming containing appearances by Common and John Legend.
