Biography
Starbreaker formed as a melodic, progressive hard rock and heavy metal outfit built around powerhouse American vocalist Tony Harnell (TNT, Skid Row) and virtuosic Swedish guitarist and multi-instrumentalist Magnus Karlsson (Primal Fear, Allen/Lande).
What started as a solo vehicle for Harnell during his TNT tenure later expanded into a proper band, bringing together Harnell, Karlsson, former TNT drummer John Macaluso, and bassist Fabrizio Grossi, whose strong chemistry hinted at significant potential. The group’s self-titled 2005 debut appeared on Frontiers Records and landed squarely between AOR rock and aggressive power metal, a balance the band maintained on its 2008 follow-up, Love’s Dying Wish, which featured Jonni Lightfoot replacing Fabrizio Grossi on bass. Anders Köllerfors came in on drums for the third album, the hard-charging Dysphoria, released in 2018.
