Sten & Stanley formed in 1962 as a Swedish dansband based in Karlskoga, where five musicians came together to launch what would become a career lasting from the early 1960s well into the following century. The original lineup featured Sten Nilsson on vocals, born in Karlskoga on December 19, 1941; Stanley Granström on guitar, born there on August 9, 1938; Per Nilsson on bass, born there on November 20, 1936; Ebbe Nilsson handling organ and piano, born there on April 26, 1940; and Stig Olsson on drums. Their first album arrived in 1963 via Decca under the title Guns of Bofors, a release that included a number of instrumental tracks. From that point through the rest of the century the group issued roughly one album each year, moving from Decca to Scranta in 1977. Although their level of popularity rose and fell across the decades, Sten & Stanley stayed consistently busy both recording and performing live. Their strongest commercial period arrived after 2000, when albums such as the Top Ten Swedish-charting Det Känns När Det Svänger (2008) and Allsånger På Vårt Sätt (2009) ranked among the band’s biggest successes.
