After relocating from Hamburg, Germany, to Los Angeles, USA, in 1983, singer Lenny Wolf joined guitarist Bruce Gowdy to establish Stone Fury. Bassist Rick Wilson and drummer Jody Cortez completed the lineup, leading to a contract with MCA Records and the release of debut album Burns Like A Star the following year. Traditional blues-based hard rock defined the record, echoing Led Zeppelin’s structural approach. Wolf’s vocals closely mirrored Robert Plant’s pitch and phrasing, resulting in accusations of imitation. Let Them Talk shifted toward greater restraint while incorporating more melody and atmospheric textures. Stone Fury’s lack of breakthrough in the USA led Wolf back to Germany, though he returned to the USA in 1987 to form Kingdom Come. In the intervening period, Gowdy launched World Trade.
