Biography
Although Sin Nanna draws his pseudonym from the Sumerian deity of the crescent moon, he remains an ordinary resident of Hobart, Tasmania, who channels the most savage, vicious, and misanthropic strains of black metal through his solitary project Striborg, a name taken from the Slavic deity governing wind and tempest. Launched in 1997, the endeavor focused on producing scattered demo recordings that were sporadically assembled into equally restricted CD editions over the ensuing five years, until the arrival of the first full-length efforts, Spiritual Catharsis and Mysterious Semblance, both issued in 2004, followed by Trepidation the next year. Set against the Southern Lord presentation in 2006 of his earliest and most recent demos compiled as Embittered Darkness/Isle de Morts, those albums underscored Sin Nanna’s steadfast dedication to unrefined and venomous black metal across a career spent largely outside the mainstream.
