In 2009, Miami rapper Pitbull linked up with Jamaican vocal coach Georgia Guerra to craft tracks that fused his signature style with island rhythms. The partnership yielded the hit single “I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho),” which climbed to No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned platinum certification. That same year he issued the album Rebelution on his own label, Mr. 305, and recruited dancehall queen Lady Saw for a guest verse that echoed the electronic pulse of Jean-Michel Jarre and Giorgio Moroder. Two years later Pitbull’s track “Give Me Everything,” featuring Ne-Yo, Afrojack, and Nayer, became his first number one, while the Grammy-nominated album Planet Pit further solidified his crossover appeal.
