Los Angeles rapper Tanna Leone crafts tracks around atmospheric beats and sharply melodic writing, pushing at the outer edges of conventional rap. Among the first artists to join Kendrick Lamar’s pgLang imprint, he partnered with the Def Jam-connected label on his 2022 debut album Sleepy Soldier. While preparing a follow-up project, Leone issued the single “Stuntman” in November 2024.

His interest in verse began in childhood through an early passion for poetry, and he started rapping by age eleven. During his teenage years he kept honing his technique, then moved into recording original material and taking the stage while still in high school. After spending several years refining his approach, Leone signed with pgLang in 2022, the imprint Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free had launched to support emerging voices. A handful of singles preceded the April 2022 arrival of his expansive, genre-shifting debut Sleepy Soldier. That May he appeared on “Mr. Morale,” the title track from Lamar’s fifth solo album, Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers; the song quickly accumulated millions of streams and gave Leone his widest audience yet. Although the pgLang partnership later concluded, Leone kept issuing new music. In the midst of developing the next album after Sleepy Soldier, he released the track “Stuntman” in November 2024.
