The bewitching alias Advisory Circle belongs to Jon Brooks, previously known through his work as King of Woolworths and Georges Vent. Brooks characterized the Advisory Circle sound with the phrase "Everything's fine, but there is something not quite right about it," allowing his eerie electronics and warped collages of noise and samples to find an ideal outlet on the ubiquitous Ghost Box label. Through his 2005 debut EP, Mind How You Go, he conveyed his affinity for pastoral eeriness, '70s kid's TV shows, vintage public relation films, Delia Derbyshire, ancient witchcraft and rituals, and the abstract experimentalism of certain library music. Building from that EP, Brooks issued his 2008 debut LP, Other Channels, which earned both critical and cult acclaim. Joining fellow Ghost Box artists including Belbury Poly, Mount Vernon Arts Lab, and The Focus Group, among others, he took part in the label’s 2010 Study Series collection, a limited-edition series of 7"s featuring Ghost Box alumni. Brooks created Study Series 02: Cycles and Seasons in collaboration with Hong Kong in the 60s.
