The Pattern Forms

The Pattern Forms unites Jon Brooks of the Advisory Circle with Ed Macfarlane and Edd Gibson from Friendly Fires. Brooks brings his long-honed command of vintage synthesizers into partnership with Macfarlane’s crooning voice and Gibson’s atmospheric guitar textures, placing the resulting sound midway between Friendly Fires’ swooning synth pop and the Advisory Circle’s reflective avant pop. The three musicians first convened to cut the single “Fluchtwege”/“The Sacrifice” for Ghost Box’s Other Voices series in 2015; the session proved so fruitful that they continued working together to complete a full album. Ghost Box issued that album, Peel Away the Ivy, in late 2016.
