Biography
Originating in the early 1980s as the Brown Boys Gospel Singers, the ensemble formed in Freeport on Long Island's South Shore in New York. Siblings Curtis, Dennis, and Willie Brown, together with cousin Joe Williams, later adopted the Brown Boyz name in the late 1990s to suit their updated approach while still drawing on gospel, soul, and funk roots. Their catalog includes Jump for Joy (2005), Harvest Time (2009), and Evolution (2012), issued chiefly via the independent Black Smoke label yet registering on Billboard's gospel album and singles charts. "It's Alright" and "Better Dayz" stand among their most recognized tracks.
