Biography
Originating in Burlington, Ontario, the Creepshow came together in 2005 around vocalist and guitarist Jen "Hellcat" Blackwood, upright bassist Sean "Sickboy" McNab, keyboardist Kristian "The Reverend" Rowles, and drummer Matt "Pomade" Gee. Blending a taste for vintage horror films with a punk-charged strain of high-velocity rockabilly, the group quickly earned a devoted following across Canada, Europe, and the United States. Their early reputation rested on raucous stage performances and frenzied energy; after contributing to the compilation Zombie Night in Canada, Vol. 2, they joined the roster of the Canadian punk imprint Stereo Dynamite Recordings, which issued their debut album Sell Your Soul during spring 2006. Shortly afterward Stereo Dynamite secured Canadian distribution through EMI, giving the band's "hellbilly" sound wider reach, and relentless road work soon positioned them among the country's most discussed new acts.
In January 2007 Jen "Hellcat" Blackwood stepped away on friendly terms, with her sister Sarah "Sin" Blackwood taking over vocals and guitar. Following the 2008 release of Run for Your Life the quartet logged dates across North America and Europe, including a Warped Tour run and several shows in Russia. Their third album, They All Fall Down, appeared in August 2010 on Stomp Records and marked Sarah "Sin" Blackwood's final recording with the group; her duet cover of Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know" alongside fellow Canadians Walk Off the Earth spread rapidly online in early 2012. She soon departed to join that act full-time, and Kenda "Twisted" Legaspi was presented as her successor. Legaspi and new guitarist Daniel Flamm made their first appearances on the band's fourth album, Life After Death, issued by Stomp Records in late 2013.
Extensive touring throughout North America and Europe continued, highlighted by a tenth-anniversary trek in 2015 that featured a headline slot at Britain's Rebellion Festival. The Creepshow eventually reentered the studio and delivered their fifth long-player, Death at My Door, in 2017.
