Biography
The Koffin Kats came together in Detroit during 2003, merging the rhythmic swing of classic rockabilly with the charged intensity and macabre visuals long associated with the Misfits. Lead singer and upright bassist Vic Victor teamed with guitarist/vocalist Tommy Koffin, both veterans of the Motor City punk community, to explore the doom-struck twang of their punk-rockabilly hybrid. Multiple drummers have rotated through the lineup across the years, with Damian Detroit logging the longest stretch from 2003 to 2005 and E-Ball Walls returning in 2007 after an earlier 2003 engagement. The trio issued their self-titled debut album in 2004 and immediately launched a supporting tour. Since that point the group has upheld a demanding schedule of live dates, appearing regularly on the West Coast and nearer to home while delivering the follow-up releases Inhumane in 2005 and Straying from the Pack in 2006.
