Emerging from the Minneapolis music community that had given rise to the Jayhawks, the Delilahs served up a comparable fusion of folk, country, and rock & roll. Vocalist Aaron Seymour and guitarist Doug Youland assembled the band in the early 1990s, completing the lineup when Thomas Case (guitar, mandolin, harmonica), Tom Henderson (drums), and Wally Marx (bass) arrived from assorted other local outfits. Following their selection as Best New Band at the 1994 Minnesota Music Awards, October Records issued the self-titled debut. The next release, Dying to Build a Bridge, broadened the ensemble’s sonic range and surfaced in 1995.
