Biography
Assembled in Charming, California by producers Bob Thiele, Jr. and Dave Way, The Forest Rangers functioned as the house band for the FX television series Sons of Anarchy, laying down both originals and covers that supplied the popular show's soundtrack. Excluding Thiele and engineer Way, the group's foundation includes Davey Faragher on bass, Phil Shenale on keyboards, Greg Leisz on pedal steel guitar, Matt Chamberlain on drums, and Gia Ciambotti supplying background vocals, while guitarists Dave Kushner, Val McCallum, Lyle Workman, and Blake Mills, bassist Bob Glaub, and drummers Don Heffington, Pete Thomas, and Brian Macleod rotate through as availability permits. Lead vocals fall to assorted guests, several of them actors from the series, among them Alison Mosshart, Joshua James, Billy Valentine, Audra Mae, Amos Lee, and Justin Warfield. Three volumes of the featured material surfaced as soundtrack albums in 2011, 2012, and 2013, after which the band launched work on a stand-alone album in 2014.
