Comprising the partnership of Jimmy London, born Trevor Shaw, alongside Billy Dyce, whose real name was Ransford White, the Inspirations formed a duo prominent within Jamaica's music circles during the late 1960s and the opening years of the following decade. Their earliest collaborations involved producer Lee "Scratch" Perry, including the track "Tighten Up" that originated from a Studio One session and marked Perry's debut release under his own name, though he issued it under the name the Untouchables. Between 1969 and 1971, additional quality recordings emerged from their work with Joe Gibbs, the bulk of these appearing on the sole album by the group, titled Reggae Fever. Following those Gibbs dates, the pair resumed their association with Perry until their 1971 separation to pursue individual paths.
