Biography
The contemporary gospel ensemble the Collingsworth Family traces its origins to the mid-'80s, when founders Phil and Kim Collingsworth launched the act as a duo that later grew into a multi-generational group.
After serving in performance and staff roles at Christian organizations across the United States, the couple committed to full-time touring ministry in 2000, initiated professional sessions with Nashville producer Wayne Haun, and became regular participants in Gaithers Homecoming Concerts. Family expansion paralleled the ministry’s growth, bringing daughters Brooklyn and Courtney (violin, vocals), Olivia (vocals), and son Philip (vocals) into the lineup by the close of the decade and yielding a series of praise & worship albums such as God Is Faithful (2006), We Still Believe (2007), and Answer (2009).
A long-term contract with Stowtown Records was signed in 2011, resulting in the album Part of the Family, which reached the Top Ten of the Billboard Christian Albums chart. The seasonal release Feels Like Christmas returned them to the chart in 2012, followed in fall 2013 by the simultaneous charting of The Lord Is Good and Hymns from Home. That Day Is Coming appeared in 2015 as their second Top Ten Christian album.
Early 2017 brought the Stowtown-issued violin duo project Brooklyn & Courtney, which included the Nashville Symphony Orchestra. Mercy & Love followed in 2018 as another symphonic recording, pairing new material with earlier songs alongside the Prague Philharmonic. The holiday collection True Family Christmas was issued in 2019.
