The Kissaway Trail, originating from Odense, Denmark, feature Thomas Fagerlund on vocals and guitar, alongside Søren Corneliussen also handling vocals and guitar, Daniel Skjoldmose contributing guitar and keyboard, Rune Pedersen on bass, and Hasse Mydtskov behind the drums. Often likened to Arcade Fire's intricate orchestral arrangements—indeed, the artist responsible for that band's album artwork also created the cover for the Kissaway Trail—the group began when Corneliussen, Fagerlund, and Pedersen, previously operating as Isles, issued their own album independently during 2005. With the addition of Skjoldmose and Mydtskov, the ensemble adopted its current name. Impressed by initial tracks, the British label Bella Union together with Australia's Etch n Sketch committed to releasing the band's first album, titled The Kissaway Trail, in 2007. Extensive touring filled the subsequent period, culminating in the 2010 release of their well-received second album Sleep Mountain. Expectations mounted and sparked internal conflicts regarding artistic choices, prompting Skjoldmose and Pedersen to exit the lineup. Consequently, Fagerlund, Corneliussen, and Mydtskov persisted as a three-piece, pausing to reevaluate their musical approach before unveiling Breach as their third album in the summer of 2013.
