Biography
The Lovetones, an Australian outfit shaped by late-'60s psychedelia and mid-'90s underground pop acts such as Matthew Sweet, came together in the early 2000s. The initial lineup included Matthew J. Tow, Matthew Sigley, Serge Luca, and Chris Cobb. Their 2002 Bomp debut, Be What You Want, stirred considerable interest and paved the way for tours that eventually led to a collaboration with the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Three intensely active years of road work saw the band issue the Stars EP while also tracking several cuts with the BJM, after which their sophomore album, Meditations, surfaced on Tee Pee. A third release, Axiom, followed in 2007.
