Biography
Originating in Essex, England, the Milk merge enduring Motown grooves and Northern soul energy with contemporary pop structures, yielding their vibrant, dance-focused music. The four-piece ensemble first developed their abilities in a punk outfit before setting that direction aside to pursue the expansive, hook-driven old-school R&B they had embraced while coming of age. Through this change, Rick Nunn on vocals, Mitch Ayling on drums, Luke Ayling on bass, and Dan LeGresley on guitar recast the group as the Milk, blending echoes of those earlier styles with hip-hop, dub, and rock touches to shape a pop approach filled with immediate enjoyment on every song. Their opening album, Tales from the Thames Delta, reached listeners in the summer of 2012.
