Biography
Forming a quartet called The Night Herons, the group fuses enchanting singing, fresh compositions, and an eclectic fusion of jazz, folk, funk, and pop to deliver emotionally resonant tunes alongside joyful experiences. Established during 2013 in Wallingford, Oxfordshire, the ensemble originated through the efforts of vocalist Rachel Holmes alongside keyboardist and composer Dave Hemming, later incorporating drummer Chris Baines together with bassist Werner de Jong. Exploring numerous musical styles such as jazz, folk, funk, pop, rap, Motown, trip-hop, Latin, and afrobeat, their objective centers on conveying genuine feelings via varied melodic expressions, relying upon Rachel’s full-bodied voice combined with spontaneous musical support to produce energetic yet ethereal compositions.
