Biography
Assembled as a politically driven supergroup, No WTO Combo brought together Jello Biafra handling vocals, Kim Thayil on guitar, Krist Novoselic playing bass, along with Gina Mainwal—Krist Novoselic’s bandmate from Sweet 75—on drums. The ensemble came together to honor and back the demonstrators protesting the World Trade Organization meeting in Seattle, delivering their sole concert on December 1, 1999; that performance later appeared as the album Live From the Battle in Seattle in spring of the next year via Jello Biafra’s Alternative Tentacles imprint.
