Biography
In Vancouver, British Columbia, Tom Landa founded the Paperboys in 1992, merging bluegrass, folk-pop, and Celtic influences into a buoyant, high-energy approach the group named "stomp." Landa served as lead vocalist and guitarist, with the first roster also featuring percussionist Paul Lawton and Cam Salay on banjo and bass. Fiddler Shona Le Mottée and multi-instrumentalist Shannon Saunders both joined in 1995, the same year the band delivered its debut LP, Late as Usual. After the Juno Award-winning Molinos appeared in 1997, Le Mottée exited and flautist Hans Araki took her place. The Paperboys issued their initial Red House Records album, Postcards, in 2000.
