Biography
Hailing from New York City, the Postelles deliver propulsive pop songs carrying streetwise drive and rock & roll edge as a quartet raised in the metropolis. Vocalist Daniel Balk, lead guitarist David Dargahi, bassist John Speyer, and drummer Billy Cadden first crossed paths at a local high school, where common musical tastes led them through several garage projects before they officially assembled the band during their initial college period. Shows began in 2007, quickly attracting the attention of Albert Hammond, Jr., guitarist for the Strokes, who produced a six-song EP that drew strong critical notice along with airplay on British radio, including support from BBC 1’s Zane Lowe. That exposure secured European dates in London and Paris, while domestic bookings included appearances at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza. Early 2009 saw the group return to the studio with Hammond to record their first full-length album, which finally surfaced in 2011; the self-titled debut received favorable reviews and supported a summer tour. Activity continued through 2012 before work commenced on a follow-up, resulting in the spring 2013 release of ...And It Shook Me.
