Biography
The Story, a folk-pop duo, consisted of singer/songwriters Jonatha Brooke and Jennifer Kimball. Their partnership began in 1981 during freshman year at Amherst College. Initially billed as Jonatha & Jennifer, they maintained regular performances across the Boston area through graduation, after which Brooke entered a dance company and Kimball accepted a role at a publishing firm. Occasional shows continued, however, until the pair recorded their demo Over Oceans in 1989 and secured a prompt deal with the Green Linnet label. Now operating as the Story, they issued their debut LP Grace in Gravity in 1991. Elektra quickly signed the duo and reissued the album the next year. Angel in the House arrived in 1993, yet the Story disbanded a year later, leaving Brooke and Kimball to pursue separate paths as solo performers.
