Biography
Peter Brewis, a drummer and one of Field Music’s founders, drew indie pop listeners in with the trio’s fusion of British guitar pop and Beach Boys-style harmonies. The group paused operations in 2007, allowing its members to launch separate endeavors in the meantime. David Brewis launched School of Language while his brother Peter pursued an unpredictable path in songwriting, threading strings, piano, abrupt detours, and input from an extensive roster of players—including his Field Music bandmates—throughout his indie rock compositions. Those pieces were later tracked and issued under the name the Week That Was, yielding a self-titled album in 2008.
