TM Juke

Having studied classical and jazz guitar, Alex Cowan—known professionally as TM Juke—first experimented with the sampler during his teenage years, driven partly by a wish to irritate his father, who had demanded structured lessons from the time Alex turned seven, and partly by his devotion to hip-hop. Upon turning 23 he issued his initial full-length effort, the 2003 album Maps from the Wilderness, through Tru Thoughts. After supplying remixes for numerous fellow musicians, he partnered in 2005 with British singer Alice Russell to co-write and produce her debut release, My Favourite Letters. Forward surfaced the next year as a co-release on Ubiquity and Tru Thoughts, showcasing the identical jazz, soul, funk, and hip-hop-tinged organic electronica that defined his opening record.
