Contemporary R&B singer and songwriter Tony Rich first drew notice while serving on the songwriting staff at LaFace Records, where he supplied material for Boyz II Men, Johnny Gill, TLC, and Toni Braxton. Launching his own recording career as the Tony Rich Project, he introduced the 1995 album Words, on which he handled every aspect of writing, performing, and production. Following the Grammy-nominated singles “Like a Woman” and “Nobody Knows,” he returned in 1998 with Birdseye, still on LaFace, before shifting to independent outlets for Resurrected (Rich Projects/Compendia, 2003), Pictures (Rich Media/IM, 2006), and Exist (Hidden Beach, 2008). He also composed the music for the 2006 gospel project A New Understanding of Peace (Sefat Mustard Seed), which includes narration by Sheila Evans.
