Biography
Although Trixter originated in Paramus, NJ, during 1983, the quartet did not secure its breakthrough until 1989, when the musicians relocated to Hollywood—the unofficial headquarters of hair metal—to cut their debut for MCA Records. In 1990 the band hit the road alongside Stryper and Don Dokken, promoting the self-titled album that gained substantial visibility through MTV exposure. Vocalist Peter Loran, guitarist Steve Brown, bassist P.J. Farley, and drummer Mark “Gus” Scott appeared regularly on the network once the clips for “Give It to Me Good,” “One in a Million,” and “Surrender” entered steady rotation. Early in 1991 the record was certified gold after surpassing 500,000 U.S. sales, and the members further raised their profile by taking part in the “Blood, Sweat, and Beers Tour” with Warrant and Firehouse while also placing a track on the soundtrack to If Looks Could Kill. Their peak period proved fleeting. The next release, Hear!, could not sustain the group’s momentum, and the 1994 covers EP Undercovers made little headway against the rising dominance of grunge. After Scott exited, Trixter disbanded in 1995.
