Formed in 1986, this hard rock quartet from California consisted of Mark Hawkins on vocals, guitar and synthesizer, Timmy James Reilly on vocals and guitar, E.L. Curcio on bass and Jerry Grant on drums. Their first appearance came via the track ‘Make it Or Break It’ on the Pure Metal compilation, which caught the ear of producer and guitarist Paul Sabu. He stepped in to helm Shattered Hearts, also contributing to the writing of three songs on the record. The set drew from the style of Y&T, Kiss and Van Halen yet leaned heavily on keyboards to supply a pronounced melodic layer throughout. The band then signed with Gene Simmons’ self-titled imprint, a subsidiary of RCA Records, resulting in the 1990 release Don’t Touch Me There. That album extended the groundwork laid by their debut, arriving with polished production that nevertheless targeted Stateside FM radio playlists.
