Trummors emerged during 2010 as a folk-rock pairing in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighborhood of New York, brought together by songwriter Anne Cunningham alongside longtime New York City musician David Lerner, whose earlier tenure with Ted Leo & the Pharmacists remains familiar to many listeners. Both members handle multiple instruments and emphasize acoustic textures, weaving harmonium, fingerstyle guitar, and close-harmony dual vocals into their characteristically warm approach. Not long after forming, Cunningham and Lerner left the intensity of Brooklyn for the quieter environment of Woodstock in upstate New York. Their debut full-length, Over and Around the Clove, appeared in May 2012 and mirrored this relocation through lushly earthy material filtered by a mildly psychedelic lens on 1970s pop. Dobro player Marc Orleans and Chris Zaloom on pedal steel added their contributions to those sessions. The duo followed up in 2014 with the second album Moorish Highway, which broadened their rustic folk base through additional guest musicians.
