Biography
Emerging from Portland, Oregon in the latter part of the 2000s, the indie rock group Tu Fawning came together through the combined skills of Joe Haege, who leads 31Knots, along with singer/songwriter Corrina Repp and longtime figures in the Portland music community, Toussaint Perrault and Liza Reitz. Drawing from a wide array of inspirations including Django Reinhardt, Tom Petty, Bing Crosby, and Jay-Z, this four-piece ensemble incorporates aspects of Haege's history in post-punk alongside Repp's current work in indie folk, creating a captivating mix of atmospheric, sharp-angled pop and the damp indie rock sound characteristic of the Pacific Northwest, reminiscent of Portishead, PJ Harvey, and Florence + the Machine. Their initial EP, titled Secession, came out in 2008, with Hearts on Hold appearing in 2010 and Monument following in 2012.
