Twilight

An assembly of leading figures from American black metal rather than a conventional supergroup, the Twilight project unites Wrest of Leviathan and Lurker of Chalice, Malefic of Xasthur, Imperial of Krieg, Azentrius of Nachtmystium, and Hildolf of Draguar, each a multi-instrumentalist accustomed to solitary work. These musicians pooled their efforts on the ensemble’s self-titled debut, Twilight, which appeared in 2005. After a short-lived dissolution in 2008 that saw Malefic and Hildolf depart, the lineup reconvened the following year and recruited Isis guitarist Aaron Turner, Stavros Giannopoulos of the Atlas Moth, and Minsk’s Sanford Parker to continue the endeavor. With this expanded roster the group recorded its sophomore effort, Monument to Time End, issued by Southern Lord in 2010. In 2012 the collective added Thurston Moore to its ranks.
