Twothirtyeight craft tuneful songs rooted in distinct visions of indie and emo rock, delivering fresh approaches within the alternative pop sphere. The group came together in Pensacola, Florida, during 1996, featuring vocalist and guitarist Christopher Ryan Staples alongside bassist Ben W. May, guitarist Kevin M. Woerner, and drummer Dylan Daniel Roper. Their Christian influences help shape an uncommon direction for alternative pop. Through early live shows the quartet rapidly assembled a loyal audience within the surrounding alternative community. Over the next several years they handled their own recordings and issued multiple discs before landing on the 1997 compilation Let's Jet Records. In 1998 Takehold Records issued the album Missing You Dearly, written in tribute to Kevin Glass, the band's former bassist who had passed away the previous year. The following year Takehold released the EP Matter as a Breaking Point. Their second full-length effort, Regulate the Chemicals, arrived in 2000 and later received a reissue from Tooth & Nail Records in 2002. That same year brought their third album, You Should Be Living, which surfaced in November.
