The Brit-pop trio Unbelievable Truth, whose name derives from a movie directed by American filmmaker Hal Hartley, came together in Oxford, England during 1994. Its members included singer and guitarist Andy Yorke—younger sibling of Radiohead frontman Thom Yorke—along with bassist Jason Moulster, guitarist Jim Crosskey, and drummer Nigel Powell. The band's first release arrived in 1997 via the single "Building," after which a string of EPs such as Stone and Higher Than Reason helped expand their audience ahead of the 1998 album Almost Here. Virgin Records declined to extend their deal for a follow-up, prompting Unbelievable Truth to align with Shifty Disco for the 2000 effort Sorrythankyou. The group disbanded that year when Yorke declared plans to focus on solo work. A year later, the compilation Misc. Music appeared, featuring B-sides plus video from their last concert, held in September 2000.
