Biography
Formed in 1990, the United Future Organization brought together Tokyo club DJs Tadashi Yabe and Toshio Matsuura with French expatriate Raphael Sebbag, quickly establishing themselves as pioneers of the Japanese acid-jazz sound. The trio rose swiftly to prominence within Tokyo’s underground club circuit and issued their first recording the following year, the 12-inch single “I Love My Baby (My Baby Loves Jazz).” Mid-1992 brought the release of “Loud Minority/Moon Dance,” which gained cult status across dance floors from London to Hamburg to New York City. That September the group unveiled their debut album, Jazzin’ 91-93, and simultaneously delivered a triumphant British debut performance at London’s Fridge club. An American contract did not materialize until 1994, when Verve Forecast issued a self-titled compilation. No Sound Is Too Taboo arrived the next year, after which United Future Organization remained silent until resurfacing with 3rd Perspective in 1997. The trio returned once more in 2000 with the album Bon Voyage on Instinct.
