Biography
Around 2002 the Seattle collective United State of Electronica assembled chiefly from the ranks of the local outfit Wonderful. Where Wonderful specialized in compact, high-tension pop constructions, USE fused the volume-pushing force of Andrew W.K. with Daft Punk’s rolling, celebratory funk pulse. Core Wonderful veterans Noah Weaver (keyboards/vocoder), Peter Sali (guitar/vocals), Jason Holstrom (guitar/vocals), and Jon e. Rock (drums/vocals) were supplemented by bassist Derek Chan plus dancers and backup vocalists Amanda Okonek and Carly Nicklaus, enabling the group to ignite Seattle’s club circuit through kinetic, instrument-driven renditions of music normally produced electronically. Their debut vinyl arrived in summer 2003 on the New York independent imprint B-Side, a three-song 12-inch carrying remixes by Bobby Karate and DJ Tripp.
