Biography
Based in Los Angeles, the solo project Urika's Bedroom constructs melodic pop material infused with echoes of 1990s alternative rock and propelled by rhythms drawn from foundational trip-hop recordings. That artistic direction reached full realization through the debut album Big Smile, Black Mire, issued in 2024.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2018, Urika's Bedroom built early ties by contributing guitar to several different bands. The first solo single, “Junkie,” appeared in 2023, anchored by a massive, distorted beat that recalled Tricky’s more exploratory early work. Once that track was out, the initial live appearances under the Urika’s Bedroom name occurred in support of Youth Lagoon. Later in 2024 the project’s first album surfaced on the True Panther label; Big Smile, Black Mire arrived that November and offered an indistinct yet telling portrait of its creator’s intricate songwriting and production methods.
